Trading since 1956, they’re now one of the industry’s largest and most respected providers of Generator maintenance, Generator servicing & UPS maintenance, and repair solutions. Operating across the UK and developing economies around the world to connect power and people.
YorPower engaged NCZ as they needed to establish a credible journey to net zero, understand where emissions originate from and where costs can be reduced. They also needed to establish a targeted approach to decarbonisation to ensure maximum success.

Phase 2 Initial assessment and solutions (quick wins)
Using the reported baseline of emissions, we were able to immediately assess and recommend solutions that would significantly reduce carbon emissions and costs, including:
- Investigate the feasibility of transitioning the company vehicle fleet towards hybrid and/or electric, as well as encouraging the use of other less emissions intensive modes of transport.
- Encourage employees to use less emissions intensive modes of transport, including hybrid or electric vehicles, or public transport for business related travel.
- Undertake meetings through virtual platforms where site meetings are not necessary, to reduce business travel.
- Mitigate the impact of purchased electricity by switching to a renewable or green energy tariff across all sites, and encourage a reduction in consumption through awareness campaign.
- Introduce a ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ Policy to reduce environmental impact beyond emissions.

YorPower have commissioned a verified carbon offset of all organisational emissions through certified carbon credits from a CDM registered Hydro Power project to balance emissions and achieve carbon neutrality as a business. The next stage of the programme is now underway and will see YorPower achieve NCZ Gold Certification upon completion. This involves a Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) of operational activities to establish the specific emissions associated with the services YorPower provides, and will enable them to track, report on, balance and reduce the impact of their services on a client-by-client basis. Additionally, this will ensure that YorPower achieve carbon neutrality as a business and as a service provider whilst working toward their ultimate goal of achieving net zero.
