Welcome to our November Newsletter!

Last month, we explored how sustainability credibility is built, not by surface-level claims, but through transparency, data integrity, and meaningful action. Our October content unpacked where common shortcuts fall short: from inflated green messaging to simplified carbon tools that miss core emissions like Scope 3.

This November, our focus turns toward practical implementation and measurable impact, what it takes to move from intent to proven results. We’ll share insights into embedding carbon accounting into procurement, tracking emissions across operations, and integrating verified measurement into bids and reporting to tell a story backed by real numbers.

Dive into this month’s thought-provoking pieces that explore the tools, frameworks, and mindsets that separate token efforts from tangible transformation.

Track real data on emissions, energy, waste, and resource use. Reliable metrics make your sustainability efforts verifiable, not just aspirational.

2️⃣ Be Transparent
Share both achievements and challenges openly. Stakeholders trust companies that show progress and acknowledge areas for improvement.

3️⃣ Align Actions with Claims
Ensure that public statements match actual initiatives, green messaging only works when backed by concrete results.

4️⃣ Engage Your Teams
Involve employees in sustainability projects. A culture of participation strengthens credibility and drives real impact.

5️⃣ Audit & Improve
Regularly review practices, supplier standards, and policies to identify gaps and make meaningful improvements over time.

Meet Ramielle Sta. Teresa, one of the driving forces behind NCZ’s client support and reporting workflow.Since joining NCZ, Ramielle has been steadily building her expertise in carbon measurement and reporting.

In this spotlight, she shares her journey of learning how carbon data is collected and analyzed, and how her role contributes to helping organizations understand and improve their environmental impact.

Q. Ever wondered how carbon is actually measured?

A: Honestly? When I first joined NCZ, I had no clue how carbon was measured. I knew what a “carbon footprint” was… sort of. But if someone asked me to explain it back then? Nope.

And to be completely honest, I still don’t calculate carbon myself.
Not yet, anyway.
But I am learning how the measurement process works, and how my role fits into it.

Q. Ever wondered what Scope 1, 2, and 3 really are?

A. In my first few weeks, I kept hearing terms like “Scope 1, Scope 2, Scope 3,” and I’d just nod along politely even though I had zero idea what anyone meant.

Little by little, though, things started to make more sense. I learned what each scope generally referred to, why companies measure emissions in the first place, and how all these pieces connect.

Q. What’s it like learning carbon on the job?

A. I may not be the one crunching the emissions numbers, but I’m hands-on with the final reports, company footprints, event emissions, all of it. The more I worked on them, the more everything started to make sense.

Q. How do small wins add up to big learning?

A. Those little “ohhh, I get it now” moments add up fast. Like finally seeing how travel, electricity, and waste turn into actual emission numbers.I’m far from an expert, but I understand the big picture now. Every report teaches me something new, and every small insight feels like a win.

Q. What’s next on the carbon learning journey?

A. I’m still learning every day and I’m excited about it. Compared to where I started, I’ve grown so much. There’s more to learn, more to understand, and more ways I can help companies and events make better sustainability decisions. And honestly? I’m looking forward to all of it.
