🌍 Sustainability while WFH: Energy Efficiency Tips for the Home
Aside from remote work helping reduce transport emissions, working remotely also offers plenty of opportunities for your team to practice sustainability.
Here are some practical, impactful ways your team can cut electricity use and move closer to net zero when you clock in from home:
💡 Energy Efficiency
- Switch to LEDs: LED bulbs use up to 80% less energy and last significantly longer than traditional lighting.
- Mind your computer settings: Set your computer and monitors to energy-saving mode.
- Check your outlets: Unplug chargers and electronics when not in use.
❄️ Smarter Heating & Cooling
- Track your energy use: Adjust your thermostat based on the time of day and your work schedule.
- Dress appropriately: Wear weather-appropriate clothing indoors before turning up the heat or AC.
- Let your air conditioning rest: Use fans or open windows to reduce reliance on air conditioning.

- Show up on webcam when needed:
Turn off video on calls when it’s not necessary — it saves bandwidth and energy. - Tidy up your inbox:

Q – Happy 1st NCZ anniversary, Alice! How do you feel, and what will you remember the most about the first year you have spent with the team?
A – It doesn’t feel like it’s been a year, feels like I have always been a part of NCZ! What I will remember most from this first year is the team. It’s lovely to work with a small group of people who actually want to make a difference and understand how to make people feel valued.
Q – As one of our customer success managers, what do you like most about working with our fantastic clients?
A – I like being able to get to know each of our customers on that individual level and being able to build that strong relationship, so they know we are there if they need us.
Q – What habits have you incorporated into your daily life after another year of learning and working in sustainability and carbon management?
A – I like to think I try to live as sustainably as I can, but I’ve spent the last year trying to train my family what can and can’t be recycled, and it feels like they are finally getting there!
Q – What are you looking forward to, and what is a goal that you want to accomplish this year as part of NCZ’s amazing team? 😉
A – I’m looking forward to seeing the business grow and being able to reach out and support more small businesses along their journey to Net Zero.
