First, what a year it’s been for NCZ. We’ve seen more businesses than ever commit to credible Net Zero strategies, from SMEs to large enterprises and it’s been a privilege to support so many on their journeys.

The festive season is full of lights, decorations, and extra gatherings but small energy-saving changes can make a big difference for your wallet and the planet.
🌿 At Work:
Power Down: Holiday parties and end-of-year celebrations are fun, just remember to turn off computers, monitors, and office lights when you leave. Power strips make it easy.
Go Smart: If your office is decking the halls, choose energy-efficient lights and appliances for decorations and heating.
Rethink Travel: Virtual end-of-year meetings or carpooling to holiday events can reduce energy and emissions.
🏡 At Home:
Switch to LED: Twinkling Christmas lights? Go LED, they shine bright but use far less energy.
Unplug Devices: Chargers, TVs, and kitchen gadgets still draw power even when idle, especially during festive movie marathons or gift-wrapping sessions.
Optimize Heating & Cooling: Keep the house cozy with insulated windows, draft-proofing, and programmable thermostats to avoid wasting energy during winter celebrations.

This month, we put the spotlight on Ruchel Bernardo.
Ruchel, joins us as our newest team member, rounding off the NCZ roster for 2025, and she’s already bringing fresh energy to the team. As our Social Media Content Strategist, she manages our digital presence across platforms and helps shape how we communicate sustainability in a way that’s engaging, clear, and actually fun to learn about. NCZ is excited to have her on the team, and we’re thrilled about how she can help amplify the vision and impact NCZ is striving for.
Q. What’s your claim to fame?
A. My friends think I’m iconic and honestly that’s enough. Add in a few small wins here and there…and at this point, I’m just rolling with it… learning and crushing it one step at a time.
Q. If you had the opportunity to know the future, would you want to know?
A. Probably not. Half the fun is figuring things out along the way. If I knew the future, I’d overthink every single detail and ruin the plot twist.
Q. What’s your go-to karaoke song?
A. If I Believed by Patty Austin… guaranteed to hit a few questionable high notes.
Q. What’s your favourite childhood memory?
A. Spending long afternoons with my cousins, running around outside and making up games till it got dark.
Q. Tea or coffee?
A. Tea… if we’re talking calm vibes. Coffee for the chaos… really depends on the mood or does it really matter? I’m more interested in the company than the drink.
